Pandemic has been going for more than a year and we should be grateful that we are healthy. Stay healthy during a pandemic is actually quite simple, there are certain small things we could do to stay healthy; such as getting enough sleep, eat nutritional foods, getting enough morning sunlight, and of course, drink plenty of water.
If you have money to spare, it would be recommended to get extra support from multivitamins or food supplements. Some people don’t actually believe that multivitamins have benefits to our body as our body usually only absorbs about 10% to 30% of the dosage. But, I have been taking multivitamins religiously for over 3 years and I can clearly see and feel the difference.
Food supplements or multivitamins are also beneficial for the picky eater and simply helps our body to get the nutrition that we didn’t get from food. If you don’t have enough fruit or vegetable intake, a food supplement would be a great choice!
I am not an expert in nutritional and vitamin intake but I would like to share my own experience with the local products that I tried. There is no endorsement or affiliate link as I just started this blog! I chose this brand; Herbana Indonesia because it uses Indonesian indigenous herbs as ingredients. Which has been known for years as the healthy ingredients.
Here are the local vitamins that I tried to stay healthy during pandemic:
MENIRAN
“Meniran is a potent immune booster. Not only is it packed with antioxidants, but the bioactive compounds of this herb also modulates the immune system. Better yet, clinical studies have shown that Meniran prevents the formation of kidney stones.”
What’s Meniran? Green Meniran (Phyllanthus niruri) is a plant that has long been believed to be used as an herbal medicine. The health benefits of meniran are very diverse, ranging from controlling blood sugar levels, reducing inflammation, to preventing kidney stones.
Quick Review: I started taking Meniran at the early time of the pandemic. During those times, I felt healthy and full of energy. Even though I was working nonstop, I have not had any fever.
JINTEN HITAM
“Jinten Hitam or Black Cumin is great for when you’re feeling under the weather. It works well to boost the immune system by increasing the production of immune cells. It is also packed with antioxidants and phytonutrients.”
According to deltomed.id, Black Cumin is originating from Egypt, this seed-shaped herb is often called habbatussauda. Befitting the name, the seeds of the Nigella Sativa flower plant are solid black and have a shape resembling a sunflower seed. The flavor and aroma of black cumin is very distinctive and often used as a flavoring spice in India and the Middle East.
Thymoquinone (TQ) is the main active ingredient in black cumin seeds that can boost the immune system and contain powerful antioxidants. This content can increase cell activity to become a natural killer of various diseases and symptoms.
Here are some of the benefits of black cumin seeds for health:
- Prevent Diabetes
- Lower Blood Pressure
- Increase Memory and Concentration
- Prevent Cancer
- Neurtralise Toxins
With so many benefits of black cumin seeds, regular consumption will certainly provide the best supplement for your body. Honestly, I only took 1 bottle of it and didn’t see any significant changes as I didn’t continue to consume it. But I am sure it has a lot of benefits as mentioned above!
BALANCE MADIA – GOODNIGHT
“Balance Madia Goodnight, an all-natural blend containing Valerian, Ginger, Nutmeg and Passion Flower extracts to help relieve sleeplessness and improve quality of sleep so that you never have to give up on your dreams.”
Quick Review: Probably one of the useless supplement I took to improve my sleep cause it didn’t work at all. I am very sceptical with this and I was right.
On top of these vitamins, I also take my usual vitamins from JS Health. Which I will cover later in my next post! Overall, I do believe that multivitamins whether it’s from indigenous herbs or not are beneficial to our body. Aside from this multivitamin, I sneak some natural Vitamin C from drinks and fruits.
