Hello August! It’s the first day of the month, which means another major monthly cleaning routine during COVID-19. In this uncertain time, it is easy to be discouraged and not motivated to do anything. But, let’s try our best to keep our surroundings clean and organised so then we will have a better mood!
My mother always taught me to change the bedsheets, linen, and towel every first and the middle of the month. However, with this ‘new normal’; not only that we have our usual major cleaning, but we also need to apply more cleaning health protocol around the house.
Here are some additional cleaning tips that we can apply to our first & middle of the month routine:
Change bed linen, sheet, cover, and towel. Our recommendation is to always change our bed linen and towel fortnightly. Although this is a common rule, many experts recommend weekly washings. This is because your sheets can accumulate a lot of stuff you can’t see: thousands of dead skin cells, and dust mites.
Dust and wipe every surface. This includes window, kitchen cabinet, kitchen stove, fan, filter, and bed headboard too. If surfaces are dirty, they should be cleaned using a detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection. Don’t forget electronics as well, but always check the cleaning instruction for electronic items.
Disinfect several objects that we frequently touched after we get homes such as doorknobs, keys, handles, phone, and light switch. Wear dedicated reusable gloves to keep our hands safe from the chemical.
Vacuum every rug, carpeted room, and floor. I would recommend washing the rug once a month too!
Mop the floor with disinfectant liquid. The feeling of having a squeaky clean floor with pine fragrant is the best!
Don’t forget about digital clutter too. Normally, I would clean up unused folders, organise photos, and back up data to a hard drive on the first day of the month.
HAPPY CLEANING!
